takacs members

College of Music graduate quartet residency program enables one quartet to work intensively with members of the Tak獺cs Quartet and other string faculty. The group also mentors individual students.

Theyre in company with this years Grammy nominees Coldplay and Radiohead. As CU-Boulders resident string quartet since the early 1980s, the泭泭was nominated for a Grammy this year in the category of best chamber music performance.

The group formed 33 years ago in Budapest and performs extensively worldwide each year. Their concerts in Boulder sell out well in advance. When members arent touring they teach at the College of Music.

In 2002 they won the Grammy for best chamber music performance, although they did not attend the Grammy awards ceremony. The group didnt plan on attending this time around either, as they had a performance scheduled at CU. The winner was not known before Coloradan press time.

While the group appreciates the nomination, its members stay focused on their audiences.

The greatest satisfaction is in performing because that is what were always aiming toward, violinist Edward Dusinberre says.
