CU community to host BuffsUnited event affirming inclusive values
A partnership of 窪蹋勛圖 students, faculty and staff will host a Jan. 25 BuffsUnited event that will support the values of an inclusive campus and the Colorado Creed.
The event, free and open to the public, will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Old Main Chapel. BuffsUnited will include speeches and musical performances to highlight important social issues.
BuffsUnited is a celebration of a CU community that recognizes theres value in all dimensions of diversity on our campus, said Associate Professor Samuel Flaxman, an event organizer. We want to build inclusion and improve campus climate in a way that affirms the values of the Colorado Creed.
Created by a group of students in 2004, focuses on 窪蹋勛圖s shared values and culture. It reads as follows:
Colorado Creed
As a member of the Boulder community and the 窪蹋勛圖,泭I agree to:
- Act with honor, integrity and accountability in my interactions with students, faculty,泭staff and neighbors.
- Respect the rights of others and accept our differences.
- Contribute to the greater good of this community.
I will strive to uphold these principles in all aspects of my collegiate experience泭and beyond.
Chancellor Philip P. DiStefano said he is delighted the campus community took it upon themselves to organize such a positive event to boost campus climate.
Events such as BuffsUnited bring the Colorado Creed to life and show how we actually live by these values and respect each other, DiStefano said. "I hope youll join me at this event. I couldnt agree more with a : 'To each and every one of our students, regardless of where you come from, who you are or what you believe, we are glad you are here and part of our community.'"
More details on speakers and performers will be released prior to the event.
